Blow of heart: The vault of LeFevre, organic and remarkable

This construction was done by the American studio Matter Design Studio, where Wes McGee and Brandon Clifford created a remarkable work. Each element has been carefully calculated and calibrated for a balance of volumes and forces. Marvel of technology, this work is also a beautiful illustration of the meeting between art and architecture. Entirely made of plywood, LeFevre’s vault can be admired in the Benvard Gallery at the Ohio State Knownlton School of Architecture. (Source: http://www.matterdesignstudio.com )

An African village where each house is a work of art

Far from being very popular with tourists, Burkina Faso is home to an extraordinary village on a hill overlooking the savannah. The residence of the chief, the royal court and the nobility of the Kassena people can be found on 1.2 hectares, with houses finely decorated, like works of art. The village is quite isolated from foreigners in order to protect it to ensure its integrity, conservation and traditions. The royal residence consists of a series of small mud brick structures inside a compound, covered with geometrically patterned natural clay paints, designed to differentiate them from the homes of ordinary people. The chef’s house has the smallest door to protect…

It is also in the center of a wine region called the “wine city”. Its metallic structure is reminiscent of a vine. It is constructed with corrugated titanium panels, whose colors present a bottle of wine: gold for the cap, silver for the capsule and dark red for the liquid. If the hotel is built with hard materials outside, the interior is very comfortable with 43 cozy rooms. Like the wine dress, the rooms are adorned with red and iced brown. Everywhere, high-tech! Bang & Olufsen…

Rehabilitated as a home by Amort Architektur, the construction served as a basis for the creation of an extraordinary residential design. In order to preserve its place in history, the bunker has remained unpainted, and appears as a monument of the past, on which is added a new, more up-to-date structure. The house is contemporary, placed on an older structure, worn by…
