A graduate in architecture, anthropology and art history, Antony Gormley, a London-born sculptor born in 1950, works on the subject of the human condition. He sculpts works exploring the depth of the body as a space of memory and transformation. In addition, he uses his own body as a subject, tool and even material.
His reflection does not stop there! He also explores the collective body as well as the relationship with others.
He thus realizes big installations like Allotment, Critical Mass, Another Place, Domain Field and Inside Australia. His current work is now focused on energy systems, fields and preferred vectors compared to the volumes initially studied.
Whether it is his human-sized sculptures or his large installations, his work always challenges and amazes. In any case, he does not leave indifferent.
Here is his work:
ALLOTMENT, HERNING MUSEUM, HERNING, DENMARK, 1997 – 1998
CRITICAL MASS, FROM THE WARR PAVILION, BEXHILL-ON-SEA, UK, 2010
ANOTHER PLACE CROSBY BEACH IS PART OF THE MERSEYSIDE COASTLINE NORTH OF LIVERPOOL
DOMAIN FIELD, 2003
INSIDE AUSTRALIA, 2002 – 2003
