Story of a Creation: The Tribal Throne

Story of a Creation: The Tribal Throne The story of the tribal throne. One of my handcrafted wooden creations to take you to distant lands.

Like all creations, the idea is part of a small design with the desire to achieve a somewhat anthropomorphic sitting from natural materials: wood and sheepskin. I wanted to mix man, animal and nature while allowing comfort and function.

Once the sketch was done (and some thoughts to design the furniture), I first created a box that had to compose the seat:

I then added some elements to insert the feet:

I went to the realization of feet with scissors to turn my cleats into bevels:

After a few hours of work, I got four beveled feet that I could fix under my “box-seat”:

I then added a frame for the backrest with small cleats, driftwood, some rope and ring decorations, a paper mache sculpture to form the tribal human, and four small wooden ball feet for the decor (a particularity: there is a face on both sides of the throne):

The raw throne was born. I tinted the set after fixing a little rope and a goatskin headdress:

Finally, I added foam for the seats that I covered with a goat skin and a sheepskin for comfort:

The tribal throne is born! It only remains to settle in.
